The GenoType PST plus test is based on the DNA strip technology and permits the combined characterization of polymorphisms at postion -889 of the human interleukin(IL)-1A gene, at position -3953 of the human interleukin(IL)-1B gene, and at position +2018 of the human interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RN) gene.
The whole procedure is divided into three steps: DNA isolation from a patient sample (buccal swabs; the necessary reagents not provided), a multiplex amplification with biotinylated primers (the necessary thermostable DNA polymerase is not provided), and a reverse hybridization.
