The GenoType® LCT test is based on the DNA•STRIP® technology and permits the combined molecular characterization of positions –13910 and –22018 in the enhancer region of the human lactase (LCT) gene.
The whole procedure is divided into three steps: DNA isolation from a patient sample (blood; the necessary DNA isolation kit is not provided), a multiplex amplification with biotinylated primers (the necessary thermostable DNA polymerase is not provided), and a reverse hybridization.
