Diagnostic Test - Molecular Biology
The GenoType® BC gramnegative test is based on the DNA•STRIP® technology and permits the identification of the following gram-negative bacterial species from blood culture: Acinetobacter baumanii, Citrobacter freundii/koseri, Enterobacter agglomerans, E. cloacae/aerogenes, E. intermedium, Escherichia
coli/Shigella sp., Klebsiella pneumoniae, K. oxytoca, Haemophilus influenzae, H. parainfluenzae, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella Enteritidis/Typhimurium, Serratia marcescens, and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia.

The GenoType® BC grampositive test is based on the DNA•STRIP® technology and permits the identification of the following gram-positive bacterial species from blood culture: Streptococcus anginosus/constellatus/intermedius/mutans/sanguis, S. mitis/oralis, S. pyogenes, S. agalactiae, S. dysgalactiae ssp. equisimilis, S. bovis, S. pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, S. haemolyticus, S. epidermidis, S. hominis, S. warneri, S. simulans, Enterococcus faecalis, E. faecium, E. gallinarum, and E. casseliflavus.
At the same time the vancomycin resistance mediating genes vanA, vanB, vanC1, and vanC2/C3 as well as the methicillin resistance mediating mecA gene can be detected.
