Description
The polyclonal antibody reacts with human, mouse, and rat Stat5á; the antibody has been generated against the C-terminus of human Stat5á. Stat5á protein is a transcription factor activated by hormone and cytokines. Two highly related, but distinct Stat5 genes (Stat5á and Stat5â) were identified in mouse. The amino acid sequences of Stat5á and Stat5â show ~96% sequence similarity, and both proteins are co-expressed in most tissues of both virgin and lactating mice. However, differential accumulation of Stat5á and Stat5â mRNA has been reported for both muscle and mammary tissue. Stat5á is critically involved in a variety of physiological functions, including reproduction, lactation, immune function and somatic growth. The molecular weight of human Stat5á is 95 kDa.
Usage
For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. This polyclonal antibody has been reported for use in immunoprecipitation, immunoblotting (WB), and immunohistochemical staining.
Applications Tested
This polyclonal antibody has been tested by immunoblotting (WB) (5-10 ìg/ml). A431 or tonsil cells can be used as positive controls. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
