Background:
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of thesuperfamily of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. ABCproteins transport various molecules across extra- andintra-cellular membranes. ABC genes are divided into seven distinctsubfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White). Thisprotein is a member of the OABP subfamily. Alternatively referredto as the RNase L inhibitor, this protein functions to block theactivity of ribonuclease L. Activation of ribonuclease L leads toinhibition of protein synthesis in the 2-5A/RNase L system, thecentral pathway for viral interferon action. Two transcriptvariants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.
Other Names:
ATP-binding cassette sub-family E member 1, 2'-5'-oligoadenylate-binding protein, HuHP68, RNase L inhibitor, Ribonuclease 4 inhibitor, RNS4I, ABCE1, RLI, RNASEL1, RNASELI, RNS4I
Gene Name: ABCE1
Gene ID: 6059
Primary Accession: P61221
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
