Background:
ALOXE3 is a member of the lipoxygenase family, which are catabolized by arachidonic acid-derived compounds. The encoded enzyme is a hydroperoxide isomerase that synthesizes a unique type of epoxy alcohol (8R-hydroxy-11R,12R-epoxyeicosa-5Z,9E,14Z-trienoic acid) from 12R-hydroperoxyeicosatetraenoic acid (12R-HPETE). This epoxy alcohol can activate the the nuclear receptor peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARalpha), which is implicated in epidermal differentiation. Loss of function of the enzyme encoded by this gene results in ichthyosis, implicating the function of this gene in the differentiation of human skin.
Other Names:
Hydroperoxide isomerase ALOXE3, Epidermis-type lipoxygenase 3, Epidermal LOX-3, e-LOX-3, eLOX-3, Hydroperoxy icosatetraenoate dehydratase, ALOXE3
Target/Specificity:
This ALOXE3 antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 223-252 amino acids from the Central region of human ALOXE3.
Antigen Region:
223-252
Antigen Type: Synthetic Peptide
Gene Name: ALOXE3 (HGNC:13743)
Gene ID: 59344
Primary Accession: Q9BYJ1
NCBI Accession: NP_001159432.1;NP_067641.2
Other Accession: NP_067641.2;NP_001159432.1
Format: Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. This antibody is purified through a protein A column, followed by peptide affinity purification.
