Background:
This gene encodes a cell surface receptor andtransmembrane precursor protein that is cleaved by secretases toform a number of peptides. Some of these peptides are secreted andcan bind to the acetyltransferase complex APBB1/TIP60 to promotetranscriptional activation, while others form the protein basis ofthe amyloid plaques found in the brains of patients with Alzheimerdisease. Mutations in this gene have been implicated in autosomaldominant Alzheimer disease and cerebroarterial amyloidosis(cerebral amyloid angiopathy). Multiple transcript variantsencoding several different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Other Names:

Target/Specificity:
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP13689c was selected from the Center region of APP. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.

Gene Name: APP (HGNC:620)

Gene ID: 351
Primary Accession: P05067
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
