Protein Family: Enzymes, Protein Kinases
Pathway and Disease: Cell Growth and Death
Description:
Aurora A (Serine/threonine-protein kinase 6) contributes to the regulation of cell cycle progression and is required for normal mitosis. Aurora A associates with the centrosome and the spindle microtubules during mitosis and functions in centrosome maturation, spindle assembly, maintenance of spindle bipolarity, centrosome separation and mitotic checkpoint control. It phosphorylates numerous target proteins, including ARHGEF2, BRCA1, KIF2A, NDEL1, PARD3, PLK1 and BORA. Aurora A plays a role in microtubule remodeling during neurite extension, and is important for microtubule formation and/or stabilization.
Alternate Names: Aurora A, Serine/threonine-protein kinase 6, Aurora kinase A, Serine/threonine-protein kinase Aurora-A, Serine/threonine-protein kinase 15, Aurora/IPL1-related kinase 1, Aurora-related kinase 1, ARK-1, hARK1, Breast tumor-amplified kinase, AURKA, AIK, ARK1, AURA, BTAK, STK15, STK6
Application Notes: E: 1:1,000-1:40,000; WB: 1:200-1:500
Accession No.: O14965
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide from human Aurora A.
