Background:
The protein encoded by this gene acts as receptor forarginine vasopressin. This receptor belongs to the subfamily ofG-protein coupled receptors which includes AVPR1A, V2R and OXTreceptors. Its activity is mediated by G proteins which stimulate aphosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. The receptoris primarily located in the anterior pituitary, where it stimulatesACTH release. It is expressed at high levels in ACTH-secretingpituitary adenomas as well as in bronchial carcinoids responsiblefor the ectopic ACTH syndrome. A spliced antisense transcript ofthis gene has been reported but its function is not known.

Other Names:
Vasopressin V1b receptor, V1bR, AVPR V1b, AVPR V3, Antidiuretic hormone receptor 1b, Vasopressin V3 receptor, AVPR1B, AVPR3, VPR3

Target/Specificity:
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP14050b was selected from the C-term region of AVPR1B. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.

Gene Name: AVPR1B (HGNC:896)

Gene ID: 553
Primary Accession: P47901
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
