Background:
The oncogene BCL2 is a membrane protein that blocks a stepin a pathway leading to apoptosis or programmed cell death. Theprotein encoded by this gene binds to BCL2 and is referred to asBCL2-associated athanogene. It enhances the anti-apoptotic effectsof BCL2 and represents a link between growth factor receptors andanti-apoptotic mechanisms. Multiple protein isoforms are encoded bythis mRNA through the use of a non-AUG (CUG) initiation codon, andthree alternative downstream AUG initiation codons. A relatedpseudogene has been defined on chromosome X.
Other Names:
BAG family molecular chaperone regulator 1, BAG-1, Bcl-2-associated athanogene 1, BAG1, HAP
Target/Specificity:
The synthetic peptide sequence is selected from aa 118-131 of HUMAN BAG1
Gene Name: BAG1
Gene ID: 573
Primary Accession: Q99933
Other Accession: NP_004314.4
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
