Background:
The reactivity of the antiserum is restricted to hemopexin as tested in immunoelectrophoresis and radial immunodiffusion. A characteristic single precipitin line is obtained with normal serum which shows a reaction of identity with the precipitin line with purified hemopexin. In precipitating techniques as immunoelectrophoresis and single and double radial immunodiffusion to identify the presence hemopexin in human serum or other body fluids and to determine its concentration. This antiserum has not been tested in more sensitive assays as nephelometry, ELISA or use in immunohistology, but this does not exclude such use if proper controls are included.

Isotype: Rabbit Polyclonal

Source: Hemopexin is a haem-binding -globulin present in normal serum at a concentration of 0.8 to 1.0 mg/ml. Its molecular weight is 57,000. The carbohydrate content is 23%. It consists of one polypeptide chain. Purified hemopexin isolated from pooled human serum. Freund's complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.

Form: Delipidated, heat inactivated, in PBS and 0.1% sodium azide.

Reactivity: human

Cross Reactivity:
Inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to Serum proteins, since homologous proteins of different species frequently share antigenic determinants. Cross-reactivity of this antiserum has not been tested in detail. In double radial immunodiffusion no reaction has been observed with Rat and Mouse.

Applications: Immunoprecipitation

Storage: Store at 4C, or in small aliquots at -20C.
