Protein Family: Enzymes
Pathway and Disease: Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Description:
Beta-galactosidase (beta-gal), an inducible enzyme that catalyses the hydrolysis of lactose and other beta-galactosides into monosaccharides, is a product of the LacZ operon, and is a homo-tetrameric protein consisting of four identical subunits of approximately 114kDa each. The enzyme is commonly used as a reporter gene in molecular biology to assess the efficiency of transfection.
Alternate Names: beta-galactosidase, beta-gal, b-gal, beta galactosidase
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:100-1:500
Accession No.: NP_752394
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the N-term of beta-galactosidase (E. coli).
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 ml IgY in PBS pH 7.4 with 0.02% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by immunogen affinity chromatography.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. Minimize freeze-thaw cycles. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment.
