Background:
The reactivity of the antiserum is restricted to C-reactive protein. In immunoelectrophoresis and radial immunodiffusion (Ouchterlony), using various antiserum concentrations against fresh normal human plasma a single precipitin line is obtained which shows a reaction of identity with the precipitin line obtained with purified C-reactive protein. No reaction is obtained with any other plasma protein component or serum. In precipitating techniques as immunoelectrophoresis and single or double radial immunodiffusion to identify the presence of C-reactive protein in human plasma or other body fluids or to determine its concentration. The presence of non precipitating antibodies has not been assayed. This does not exclude the use of the antiserum in more sensitive non-precipitating antibody-binding techniques if proper controls are included.

Isotype: Goat Polyclonal

Source: C-reactive protein is an acute phase protein, synthesized in the liver. Its molecular weight is about 140,000. It occurs in serum of healthy men in low concentrations, <1.2 ?g/ml. In cases of bacterial infection, surgical trauma and Hodgkins disease, he concentration is highly increased. It may reach values of 0.5 mg/ml. Freund's complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.

Form: Delipidated, heat inactivated, in PBS and 0.1% sodium azide.

Specificity:
Precipitating polyclonal Goat anti-Serum to Human C-reactive protein

Reactivity: human

Cross Reactivity:
The antiserum does not cross react with any other component of Human plasma. Inter-species crossreactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to plasma proteins since they frequently share antigenic determinants. Cross-reactivity of this antiserum has not been tested in detail.

Applications: Immunoprecipitation

Storage: Store at 4C, or in small aliquots at -20C.
