Background:
This gene is a type II classical cadherin from thecadherin superfamily and one of three cadherin 7-like genes locatedin a cluster on chromosome 18. The encoded membrane protein is acalcium dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein comprised of fiveextracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region and a highlyconserved cytoplasmic tail. Type II (atypical) cadherins aredefined based on their lack of a HAV cell adhesion recognitionsequence specific to type I cadherins. Since disturbance ofintracellular adhesion is a prerequisite for invasion andmetastasis of tumor cells, cadherins are considered primecandidates for tumor suppressor genes.
Other Names:
Cadherin-19, CDH19, CDH7L2
Gene Name: CDH19
Gene ID: 28513
Primary Accession: Q9H159
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
