Protein Family: Protein Kinases

Pathway and Disease: Cancers, Cell Growth and Death

Alternate Names: Cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2A; cyclin-dependent kinase 4 inhibitor A; CDK4I; p16-INK4; p16-INK4a; p16INK4A; Multiple tumor suppressor 1; MTS1; CDKN2A; CDKN2

Accession No.: P42771, NP_000068

Description:
CDKN2A acts as a negative regulator of the proliferation of normal cells by interacting strongly with CDK4 and CDK6. This interaction inhibits CDKs binding to cyclins D and phosphorylation of the retinoblastoma protein. Defects in CDKN2A are the cause of numerous cancers such as melanoma and astrocytoma.

Format:
Each vial contains 0.1 mg of lyophilized peptide. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml. Use at 5.6 ug/ml for a 100X excess over antibody for maximum blocking effect.

MW: 1572.7 g/mol

Sequence:
The synthetic peptide used to raise the antibody Cat. No. 200147 is selected from a sequence within the center region of human CDKN2A. For blocking experiments, a 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended.

Composition:
C66H105N23O20S1

Purity:
> 80% by HPLC

Solubility:
Distilled water for a solution up to 2 mg/ml, otherwise we recommend using acetonitrile.

Storage:
Store at -20°C. The product is hygroscopic and must be protected from light. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C.
