Background:
This gene lies adjacent to the tumor suppressor geneCDKN2A in a region that is frequently mutated and deleted in a widevariety of tumors. This gene encodes a cyclin-dependent kinaseinhibitor, which forms a complex with CDK4 or CDK6, and preventsthe activation of the CDK kinases, thus the encoded proteinfunctions as a cell growth regulator that controls cell cycle G1progression. The expression of this gene was found to bedramatically induced by TGF beta, which suggested its role in theTGF beta induced growth inhibition. Two alternatively splicedtranscript variants of this gene, which encode distinct proteins, have been reported.
Other Names:
Cyclin-dependent kinase 4 inhibitor B, Multiple tumor suppressor 2, MTS-2, p14-INK4b, p15-INK4b, p15INK4B, CDKN2B, MTS2
Target/Specificity:
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP14138b was selected from the C-term region of CDKN2B. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Gene Name: CDKN2B
Gene ID: 1030
Primary Accession: P42772
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
