Protein Family: CAM Ligands
Pathway and Disease: Cell Communication, Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Alternate Names: Collagen alpha-1(II) chain; Alpha-1 type II collagen; chondrocalcin; COL2A1
Accession No.: P02458
Description:
Type II collagen (COL2A1) is specific for cartilaginous tissues. Type II collagen is essential for the normal embryonic development of the skeleton, for linear growth and for the ability of cartilage to resist compressive forces. Defects in COL2A1 are the cause of a variety of chondrodysplasia including hypochondrogenesis and osteoarthritis.
Format:
Each vial contains 0.1 ml peptide in deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml. Use at 5.6 ug/ml for a 100X excess over antibody for maximum blocking effect.
MW: 1283.6 g/mol
Sequence:
The synthetic peptide used to raise the antibody Cat. No. 250484 is selected from a sequence within the center region of human type II collagen. For blocking experiments, a 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended.
Composition:
C54H89N15O21
Purity:
> 80% by HPLC
Solubility:
Distilled water for a solution up to 2 mg/ml, otherwise we recommend using acetonitrile.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. The product is hygroscopic and must be protected from light. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C.
