Background:
The cystatin superfamily encompasses proteins that containmultiple cystatin-like sequences. Some of the members are activecysteine protease inhibitors, while others have lost or perhapsnever acquired this inhibitory activity. There are three inhibitoryfamilies in the superfamily, including the type 1 cystatins(stefins), type 2 cystatins and the kininogens. The type 2 cystatinproteins are a class of cysteine proteinase inhibitors found in avariety of human fluids and secretions. The cystatin locus onchromosome 20 contains the majority of the type 2 cystatin genesand pseudogenes. CST11 is located in the cystatin locus andencodes an epididymal-specific protein whose specific function hasnot been determined. Alternative splicing yields two variantsencoding distinct isoforms.
Other Names:
Cystatin-11, CST11, CST8L
Gene Name: CST11
Gene ID: 140880
Primary Accession: Q9H112
Other Accession: NP_543020.2;NP_570612.1
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
