Background:
The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the formationof CTP from UTP with the concomitant deamination of glutamine toglutamate. This protein is the rate-limiting enzyme in thesynthesis of cytosine nucleotides, which play an important role invarious metabolic processes and provide the precursors necessaryfor the synthesis of RNA and DNA. Cancer cells that exhibitincreased cell proliferation also exhibit an increased activity ofthis encoded protein. Thus, this protein is an attractive targetfor selective chemotherapy. Three alternatively spliced transcriptvariants encoding the same protein have been described for thisgene.
Other Names:
CTP synthase 2, CTP synthetase 2, UTP--ammonia ligase 2, CTPS2
Gene Name: CTPS2
Gene ID: 56474
Primary Accession: Q9NRF8
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
