AC-BP13727c
Background:
This gene is overexpressed in breast cancer and squamouscell carcinomas of the head and neck. The encoded protein islocalized in the cytoplasm and in areas of the cell-substratumcontacts. This gene has two roles: (1) regulating the interactionsbetween components of adherens-type junctions and (2) organizingthe cytoskeleton and cell adhesion structures of epithelia andcarcinoma cells. During apoptosis, the encoded protein is degradedin a caspase-dependent manner. The aberrant regulation of this genecontributes to tumor cell invasion and metastasis. Three splicevariants that encode different isoforms have been identified forthis gene.
Other Names:
Src substrate cortactin, Amplaxin, Oncogene EMS1, CTTN, EMS1
Target/Specificity:
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP13727c was selected from the Center region of CTTN. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Gene Name: CTTN
Gene ID: 2017
Primary Accession: Q14247
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
