Background:
This gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins aremonooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drugmetabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids.This protein localizes to the mitochondrial inner membrane. Theenzyme has steroid 18-hydroxylase activity to synthesizealdosterone and 18-oxocortisol as well as steroid 11beta-hydroxylase activity. Mutations in this gene causecorticosterone methyl oxidase deficiency.
Other Names:
Cytochrome P450 11B2, mitochondrial, Aldosterone synthase, ALDOS, Aldosterone-synthesizing enzyme, CYPXIB2, Cytochrome P-450Aldo, Cytochrome P-450C18, Steroid 18-hydroxylase, CYP11B2
Gene Name: CYP11B2 {ECO:0000303|PubMed:1346492, ECO:0000312|HGNC:HGNC:2592}
Gene ID: 1585
Primary Accession: P19099
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
