Background:
This gene encodes a muscle-specific class III intermediate filament. Homopolymers of this protein form a stable intracytoplasmic filamentous network connecting myofibrils to each other and to the plasma membrane. Mutations in this gene are associated with desmin-related myopathy, a familial cardiac and skeletal myopathy (CSM), and with distal myopathies.

CSM1, CSM2, LGMD2R
Isotype: Rabbit Polyclonal

Specificity:
It reacts with the 53kDa desmin protein and does not crossreact with other intermediate filament proteins.
Reactivity: human, most mammals, birds
Applications: Immunoblotting, Immunohistochemistry, suitable for frozen and Paraffin sections. (no proteolytic treatment required)
Working DIlution: 1:25 to 1:50 (IHC, ABC method); 1:50 to 1:250 (Western blotting, ECL)
