Background:
The protein encoded by this gene is a calcium-dependentglycoprotein that is a member of the desmocollin subfamily of thecadherin superfamily. These desmosomal family members, along withthe desmogleins, are found primarily in epithelial cells where theyconstitute the adhesive proteins of the desmosome cell-celljunction and are required for cell adhesion and desmosomeformation. The desmosomal family members are arranged in twoclusters on chromosome 18, occupying less than 650 kb combined.Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants encodingdistinct isoforms.
Other Names:
Desmocollin-3, Cadherin family member 3, Desmocollin-4, HT-CP, DSC3, CDHF3, DSC4
Gene Name: DSC3
Gene ID: 1825
Primary Accession: Q14574
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
