Protein Family: Receptors and Channels
Pathway and Disease: Neurodegenerative Disorders, Nervous and Sensory Systems; Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Alternate Names: EMP1; EMP-1; Epithelial membrane protein 1; Tumor-associated membrane protein; CL-20; Protein B4B; TMP
Accession No.: P47801
Description:
Tumor-associated membrane protein (EMP-1) is a glycoprotein that is highly expressed in brain tumor cells but not in normal brain. It is also expressed at high levels in undifferentiated embryonic stem cells, but markedly down-regulated in these cells after their differentiation into embryoid bodies. The EMP amino acid sequence bears high homology to the growth arrest specific protein PMP22/GAS-3, which is involved in several human peripheral neuropathies.
Format:
Each vial contains 0.1 ml peptide in deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml. Use at 5.6 ug/ml for a 100X excess over antibody for maximum blocking effect.
MW: 1344.4g/mol
Sequence:
The synthetic peptide used to raise the antibody Cat. No. 251207 is selected from a sequence within the center region of mouse EMP-1. For blocking experiments, a 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended.
Composition:
C60H81N17O19
Purity:
> 80% by HPLC
Solubility:
Distilled water for a solution up to 2 mg/ml, otherwise we recommend using acetonitrile.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. The product is hygroscopic and must be protected from light. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C.
