Reference E. coli strain: 0149:K88ac CVL Weybridge was grown in nutrient broth. After centrifugation the bacterial pellet was subjected to heat shock to detach the fimbrae, which were purified by ammonium suphate precipitation. The minimal antigen titre was determined by indirect ELISA using antibody specific for K88ac.
