The encoded proteincontains immunoreceptor-tyrosine activation motifs andimmunoreceptor-tyrosine inhibitory motifs in its cytoplasmic domainand may play a role in regulation of the immune system. Mutationsin this gene have been associated with rheumatoid arthritis,autoimmune thyroid disease, and systemic lupus erythematosus.
