Description:
The dodecapeptide corresponds to the C-term end of fibrinogen gamma chain responsible of platelet aggregation. The fibrinogen gamma-chain dodecapeptide inhibits agonist-induced platelet aggregation by competing with fibrinogen for binding to platelet integrin receptor GPIIb/IIIa (glycoprotein IIb-IIIa), also known as integrin alphaIIb-beta3. This peptide exhibits hemostatic, pro-thrombotic activity and enhancing thrombus formation. It is clinically used as a platelet substitute.
