Protein Family: Receptors and Channels
Pathway and Disease: Signaling Molecules and Interaction, Nervous and Sensory Systems
Description:
GABA, the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the vertebrate brain, mediates neuronal inhibition by binding to the GABA/benzodiazepine receptor and opening an integral chloride channel. Defects in GABRA1 are the cause of childhood absence epilepsy type 4 (ECA4). A subtype of idiopathic generalized epilepsy characterized by onset at age 6-7 years, frequent absence seizures (several per day) and bilateral, synchronous, symmetric 3-Hz spike waves on EEG.
Alternate Names: GABRA1, Gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor subunit alpha-1, GABA(A) receptor subunit alpha-1
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:100-1:500; IHC: 1:100-1:500; IP: 1:100-1:500
Accession No.: P14867
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the N-term region of human GABAR1.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4 with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-G affinity chromatography.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. Minimize freeze-thaw cycles. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment.
