Protein Family: CAM Ligands, Glycan Binding Proteins
Pathway and Disease: Cancers, Cell Growth and Death, Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Description:
Galectin-3 is a member of the Galectin family that recognizes specific oligosaccharide structures on glycoproteins and glycolipids. Galectin-3 plays an important role in carcinoma development, aggressiveness and metastasis. Galectin-3 is a galactose-specific lectin which binds IgE and also stimulates endothelial cell migration via interaction with alpha-3/beta-1 integrin. Galectin-3 is mainly exoressed in colonic epithelium and activated macrophages. Galectin-3 may become a valuable diagnostic marker and target of malignancy treatment.
Alternate Names: Galectin-3, Galactose-specific lectin 3, Mac-2 antigen, IgE-binding protein, 35 kDa lectin, Carbohydrate-binding protein 35, CBP 35, Laminin-binding protein, Lectin L-29, L-31, Galactose-binding protein, GALBP, LGALS3, MAC2
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:100-1:500; IHC: 1:200-1:500
Accession No.: P17931
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the center region of human Galectin-3.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4 with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-G affinity chromatography.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. Minimize freeze-thaw cycles. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment.
