Background:
Glutamate-cysteine ligase, also known asgamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase is the first rate-limiting enzymeof glutathione synthesis. The enzyme consists of two subunits, aheavy catalytic subunit and a light regulatory subunit. This locusencodes the catalytic subunit, while the regulatory subunit isderived from a different gene located on chromosome 1p22-p21.Mutations at this locus have been associated with hemolytic anemiadue to deficiency of gamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase andsusceptibility to myocardial infarction.
Other Names:
Glutamate--cysteine ligase catalytic subunit, GCS heavy chain, Gamma-ECS, Gamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase, GCLC, GLCL, GLCLC
Gene Name: GCLC (HGNC:4311)
Gene ID: 2729
Primary Accession: P48506
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
