Protein Family: Hormones
Pathway and Disease: Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Alternate Names: Growth hormone-releasing peptide-5; GHRP-5; Momany peptide; GHRP5; Growth hormone-releasing factor; GRF; Growth hormone-releasing hormone; GHRH; GHRF
Accession No.: 76338-79-9
Description:
The growth hormone-releasing peptide-5 (GHRP-5 or Momany peptide) is one of several synthetic met-enkephalin analogs that include unnatural D-amino acids. They were developed for their growth hormone (GH) releasing activity, then called GH secretatogues. They lack opioid activity but are potent stimulators of GH release. These secretatogues are distinct from the growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH or GHRF) in that they share no sequence relation and derive their function through action at a completely different receptor, the ghrelin receptor.
Format:
Each vial contains 1 mg of lyophilized solid packaged under an inert gas and supplied as a trifluoroacetate salt.
MW: 771 g/mol
Sequence:
H-Tyr-(D-Trp)-Ala-Trp-(D-Phe)-NH2
Composition:
C43H46O6N8
Purity:
> 95% by HPLC
Solubility:
Distilled water for a solution up to 2 mg/ml, otherwise we recommend using acetonitrile.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. The product is hygroscopic and must be protected from light. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, aliquot and store at -20°C.
