Background:
The protein encoded by this gene is a mitochondrialphosphate-activated glutaminase that catalyzes the hydrolysis ofglutamine to stoichiometric amounts of glutamate and ammonia. Thisprotein is functionally similar to the kidney glutaminase but is alittle smaller in size. Originally thought to be liver-specific,this protein has been found in other tissues as well. At least onetranscribed pseudogene has been found for this gene. [provided byRefSeq].
Other Names:
Glutaminase liver isoform, mitochondrial, GLS, L-glutaminase, L-glutamine amidohydrolase, GLS2, GA
Gene Name: GLS2
Gene ID: 27165
Primary Accession: Q9UI32
Other Accession: NP_037399.2
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
