Protein Family: Receptors and Channels
Pathway and Disease: Signaling molecules and interaction
Alternate Names: Glucagon-like peptide 2; GLP-2; Glucagon; GCG
Accession No.: P01275
Description:
Glucagon-like peptide 2 (GLP-2) plays a key role in nutrient homeostasis, intestinal glucose transport and mucosal permeability. Glucagon, secreted in the A cells of the islets of Langherans, plays a key role in glucose metabolism and homeostasis. Proglucagon is processed in glucagon, GLP-1, GLP-2, glicentin and oxyntomodulin depending on tissue. Glucagon is used to treat severe hypoglycemia in insulin-dependent diabetics under the names Glucagon (Eli Lilly) and GlucaGen or Glucagon Novo Nordisk (Novo Nordisk).
Format:
Each vial contains 1 mg of lyophilized solid packaged under an inert gas and supplied as a trifluoroacetate salt.
MW: 3922.38 g/mol
Sequence:
Human: H-His-Ala-Asp-Gly-Ser-Phe-Ser-Asp-Glu-Met-Asn-Thr-Ile-Leu-Asp-Asn-Leu-Ala-Ala-Arg-Asp-Phe-Ile-Asn-Trp-Leu-Ile-Gln-Thr-Lys-Ile-Thr-Asp-Arg-OH or H-HADGSFSDEMNTILDNLAARDFINWLIQTKITDR-OH
Composition:
C171H266N48O56S1
Purity:
> 95% by HPLC
Solubility:
Distilled water for a solution up to 2 mg/ml, otherwise we recommend using acetonitrile.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. The product is hygroscopic and must be protected from light. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, aliquot and store at -20°C.
