Protein Family: Receptors and Channels
Pathway and Disease: Nervous and Sensory Systems, Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Description:
The glutamate receptor 1, a homo- or heterotetramer is an ionotropic glutamate receptor. L-glutamate acts as an excitatory neurotransmitter at many synapses in the central nervous system. Binding of the excitatory neurotransmitter L-glutamate induces a conformation change, leading to the opening of the cation channel, and thereby converts the chemical signal to an electrical impulse. The glutamate receptor then desensitizes rapidly and enters a transient inactive state, characterized by the presence of bound agonist. Phosphorylation of Ser831 has been linked to synaptic plasticity as well s learning and memory.
Alternate Names: Glutamate receptor 2, GluR-2, AMPA-selective glutamate receptor 2, GluR-B, GluR-K2, Glutamate receptor ionotropic, AMPA 2, GluA2, Gria2, Glur2, Glutamate receptor 3, GluR-3, AMPA-selective glutamate receptor 3, GluR-C, GluR-K3, Glutamate receptor ionotropic, AMPA 3, GluA3, Gria3, Glur3
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:1,000
Accession No.: P19491, P19492
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the C-term region of rat GluR2/3.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of HEPES (pH7.5), 0.01% BSA, with 50% glycerol. Antibody was purified by immunogen affinity chromatography.
