Description:
Glutathione (GSH) is an important antioxidant in plants, animals, fungi and some bacteria and archea, preventing damage to important cellular components caused by reactive oxygen species such as free radicals and peroxides. Glutathione is a tripeptide that contains a gamma peptide linkage between the amine group of cysteine and the carboxyl group of the glutamate side chain. Glutathione reduces disulphide bonds formed within cytoplasmic proteins by serving as an electron donor to yield glutathione disulphide (GSSG). Glutathionylated proteins have been reported in oxidative-stressed human T lymphocytes. The GSH:GSSG ratio within cells is often used as a measure of cellular toxicity. The antibody is conjugated to peroxidase (HRP), it can be used for detection and quantitation of proteins modified with reduced (GSH) or oxidixed (GSSG) glutathione groups.

Alternate Names: Glutathione, GSH, GSSG

Application Notes: Cat. No. 251135 recognizes reduced (GSH) and oxidixed (GSSG) glutathion as well as glutathionylated proteins and peptides. E: 1:500-1:2,000; WB: 1:200-1:1000; IHC: 1:100-1:500

Accession No.: 70-18-8

Antigen: Glutathione conjugated to KLH via disulphide bonds

Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.4 ml (0.25 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4, 50% glycerol. Antibody was purified by immunogen-affinity chromatography on a glutathione agarose column.
