Description:
The HER2/neu oncogene encodes a 185-kDa transmembrane protein with homology to the epidermal growth factor receptor. HER2 is overexpressed in 30-40% of breast and ovarian cancers, and this overexpression was shown to correlate with aggressiveness of malignancy and poor prognosis. The HER2/neu [654-662] peptide, also called HER2/neu GP2, is a tumor-associated antigen shared among several adenocarcinomas including pancreatic carcinoma, suggesting a common mechanism of recognition of these human tumors by T lymphocytes.
