Background:
HLA-DPB belongs to the HLA class II beta chain paralogues. This class II molecule is a heterodimer consisting of an alpha(DPA) and a beta chain (DPB), both anchored in the membrane. Itplays a central role in the immune system by presenting peptidesderived from extracellular proteins. Class II molecules areexpressed in antigen presenting cells (APC: B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, macrophages). The beta chain is approximately26-28 kDa and its gene contains 6 exons. Exon one encodes theleader peptide, exons 2 and 3 encode the two extracellular domains, exon 4 encodes the transmembrane domain and exon 5 encodes thecytoplasmic tail. Within the DP molecule both the alpha chain andthe beta chain contain the polymorphisms specifying the peptidebinding specificities, resulting in up to 4 different molecules.

Other Names:
HLA class II histocompatibility antigen, DP beta 1 chain, HLA class II histocompatibility antigen, DP(W4) beta chain, MHC class II antigen DPB1, HLA-DPB1, HLA-DP1B

Target/Specificity:
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP13834c was selected from the Center region of HLA-DPB1. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.

Gene Name: HLA-DPB1

Gene ID: 3115
Primary Accession: P04440
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
