Description: Recombinant human KGF protein with molecular weight 18.9 kDa.
Background:
The Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF), also known as FGF7, is a growth factor present in the epithelialization-phase of wound healing. KGF was both acid and heat labile and consisted of a single polypeptide chain of approximately 28 kDa. Lack of mitogenic activity on either fibroblasts or endothelial cells indicated that KGF possessed a target cell specificity distinct from any previously characterized growth factor. Microsequencing revealed an amino-terminal sequence containing no significant homology to any known protein. The release of this growth factor by human embryonic fibroblasts raises the possibility that KGF may play a role in mesenchymal stimulation of normal epithelial cell proliferation. FGF7 and FGF22 promote the organization of excitatory and inhibitory presynaptic terminals, respectively, as target-derived presynaptic organizers. Terauchi et al. (2010) concluded that specific FGFs act as target-derived presynaptic organizers and help to organize specific presynaptic terminals in the mammalian brain.
Synonyms:
Fibroblast growth factor 7, FGF-7, Heparin-binding growth factor 7, HBGF-7, Keratinocyte growth factor, KGF, FGF7
Purity: >95% by SDS-PAGE
Endotoxin level: < 0.1 ng/μg (1 EU/μg) by LAL test
Reconstitution: Reconstitute with sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O.
Dimers: < 1% by SDS-PAGE
Storage buffer: Each vial contains 10 mM Phosphate bufferand 200 mM NaCl(pH7.0) without preservatives.
Storage and Expiration:
Ship at 4℃. Upon receipt, store at -20℃ or -80℃ for 2 years. After reconstituting, it can store at 4℃ for a week, it is recommended to add 0.1% HSA or BSA for long term. Avoid repeated freeze and thaw cycles.
