Background:
The genes encoding type I interferons(IFNs),which include 14 IFN-α genes (two of which are IFN-α1 and IFN-α13), one IFN-β gene, one IFN-ω (also known asIFN-αII1) gene and a number of IFN-ωpseudogenes, are clustered on human chromosome 9. IFN-αand -β are cytokinesthat arewidelyknown to induce potent antiviral activity. They exert a variety of other biological effects, including antitumor and immunomodulatory activities, and are increasingly used clinicallyto treat a range of malignancies, myelodysplasias and autoimmune diseases. IFN-ω is antigenically different from human IFN-α, IFN-βorIFN-γ, butis a component of naturalmixtures ofIFNspecies produced byvirus-induced leukocytes or Burkitt’slymphoma cells. The type I interferon receptor (IFN-αR) interactswith IFN-α, IFN-β and IFN-ω, and seemsto be a multi-subunit receptor.
Alternative Name:
Interferon alpha-1/13, IFN-alpha-1/13, Interferon alpha-D, LeIF D, IFNA1, IFNA13
Application Dilution: WB: 1:500~1:1000
Specificity: IFN-α polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of IFN-α protein.
Immunogen:
A synthetic peptide corresponding to residues in Human IFN-α.
MW: ~ 24 kDa
Swis Prot.: P01562
Purification & Purity:
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen and the purity is > 95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Format:
1 mg/ml in Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide, approx. pH 7.2.
Storage:
Store at 4°C short term. Aliquot and store at -20°C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
For research use only, not for use in diagnostic procedure.
