Background:
The reactivity of the antiserum is restricted to the Fc part of the IgD molecule. In immunoelectrophoresis and radial immunodiffusion, using various antiserum concentrations against appropriate concentrations of the immunogen, a single precipitin line is obtained which shows a reaction of identity with the precipitin line obtained with human serum containing monoclonal IgD. No precipitation reaction is obtained with purified IgG, IgA, IgM, and IgG/Fab fragments. In precipitating techniques as immunoelectrophoresis and radial immunodiffusion (Ouchterlony and Mancini) to identify the presence of IgD in human serum and other body fluids or to determine its concentration. To prepare an immunoadsorbent for the purification of human IgD from serum or plasma. This antiserum is not intended for use in non-precipitating antibody-binding or other highly sensitive assays. For such uses labelled and unlabelled cytochemical and immunoassay grade reagents meeting the necessary additional specificity and performance requirements are available.
Isotype: Sheep Polyclonal
Source: Highly purified homogenous IgD isolated from human serum. Freund's complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.
Form: Delipidated, heat inactivated, in PBS and 0.1% sodium azide.
Reactivity: human
Cross Reactivity:
The antiserum does not cross-react with any other component of the Human immunoglobulin system as tested in gel-immunodiffusion techniques. Inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to immunoglobulins, since Ig of different species frequently share antigenic determinants. Cross-reactivity of this antiserum has not been tested in detail, because of the low level of IgD in most species.
Applications: Immunoprecipitation
Storage: Store at 4C, or in small aliquots at -20C.
