Protein Family: Cytokines
Pathway and Disease: Cancers, Cell Growth and Death, Cell Communication, Nervous and Sensory Systems, Signal Transduction
Alternate Names: Insulin-like growth factor I, IGF1, Somatomedin, IGF-I, Igf-1Description:
Insulin-like growth factor I (IGF1) is a well-characterized basic peptide believed to be secreted by the liver and to circulate in the blood. IGF1 has growth-regulating, insulin-like, and mitogenic activities. This growth factor has a major, but not absolute, dependence on Somatotropin. It is believed to be mainly active in adults in contrast to Insulin like Growth Factor 2, which is a major fetal growth factor. Recombinant Rat IGF1 produced in E. coli is a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 70 amino acids with a MW of 7,687 Da.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.01ng/ug or <0.1EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
Rat IGF-1 is fully biologically active when compared to standards. The ED50, was calculated 2 methods: 1. Stimulation of protein synthesis in rat L6 myoblasts ED50 was found to be less then 30 ng/ml. 2. Type 1 IGF receptor binding assay ED50 was found to be less then 10 ng/ml.
Accession No.: P08025
MW: 7687 Da
Sequence:
GPETLCGAEL VDALQFVCGP RGFYFNKPTG YGSSIRRAPQ TGIVDECCFR SCDLRRLEMY CAPLKPTKSA
Purity:
Purity > 98% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 50 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.5 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
Pathway and Disease: Cancers, Cell Growth and Death, Cell Communication, Nervous and Sensory Systems, Signal Transduction
