Background:
The reactivity of the antiserum is directed to the major isotypes of the rabbit immunoglobulin em (classes and both light chain types) including antibodies to common determinants, to s and to the surface determinants of the common Fab portion, as tested by immunoelectroimmunoelectrophoresisand double radial immunodiffusion against pooled serum and purified immunoglobulins. In precipitating techniques as immunoelectrophoresis, single and double radial immunodiffusion (Mancini, Ouchterlony) to identify and measure immunoglobulins; as secondary antibody to precipitate the immunoglobulin in normal rabbit serum. This antiserum is not intended for use in non-precipitating antibody-binding or other highly sensitive assays. For such uses labelled and unlabelled cytochemical and immunoassay grade reagents meeting the necessary additional specificity and performance requirements are available.

Source: Purified normal IgG and fractions containing IgA, and IgM isolated from rabbit serum. Freund's complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.

Reactivity: rabbit

Cross Reactivity:
Inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to immunoglobulins, since Ig of different species frequently share antigenic determinants. Cross-reactivity of this product has not been tested in detail.
