Background:
The reactivity of the antiserum is directed to the heavy and light chains of the immunoglobulin isotypes. It does not react with any non-Ig protein in human serum, as tested by immunoelectrophoresis and double radial immunodiffusion. In immunoelectrophoresis and single and double radial immunodiffusion (Mancini, Ouchterlony) to identify the presence of immunoglobulins in human serum or other body fluids; to prepare an immunoadsorbent for the purification of human immunoglobulins from serum or plasma; as secondary antibody to precipitate the immunoglobulin in normal human serum. This antiserum is not intended for use in non-precipitating antibody-binding or other highly sensitive assays. For such use labelled and unlabelled cytochemical and immunoassay grade reagents meeting the necessary additional specificity and performance requirements are available.

Source: Purified normal Ig fractions isolated from pooled human serum. Freund's complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.

Cross Reactivity:
Inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to immunoglobulins, since Ig of different species frequently share antigenic determinants. Cross-reactivity of this immunoconjugate has not been tested on detail.
