Background:
The reactivity of the antiserum is directed to the Fc and Fab subunits of the IgG molecule. It includes a certain degree of reactivity with other immunoglobulins via the common Fab portion. It does not react with any non-Ig protein in rat serum, as tested by immunoelectrophoresis and double radial immunodiffusion. In precipitating techniques as immunoelectrophoresis, single and double radial immuno- diffusion (Mancini, Ouchterlony) to identify the presence of IgG and to determine its concen- tration. This antiserum is not intended for use in non-precipitating antibody-binding or other highly sensitive assays. For such use labelled and unlabelled cytochemical and immunoassay grade reagents meeting the necessary additional specificity and performance requirements are available.
Isotype: Rabbit Polyclonal
Source: Purified normal IgG, including all known subclasses, isolated from pooled rat serum. Freund's complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.
Form: Delipidated, heat inactivated, in PBS and 0.1% sodium azide.
Reactivity: rat
Cross Reactivity:
Inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to immunoglobulins, since Ig of different species frequently share antigenic determinants. Cross-reactivity of this antiserum has been tested in double radial immunodiffusion with the following results: Bovine + Cat - Chicken - Dog ᄆ Duck - ferret + Goat ᄆ Guinea Pig + Hamster + Horse ᄆ Human ᄆ Mouse + Monkey ᄆ pigeon - Sheep - Swine ᄆ Turkey -
Applications: Immunoprecipitation
Storage: Store at 4C, or in small aliquots at -20C.
