Background:
The reactivity of the antiserum is directed to the major isotypes of the mouse immunoglobulin system (classes and both light chain types) including antibodies to common determinants, to class and to the surface determinants of the common Fab portion, as tested by immunoelectrophoresis and double radial immunodiffusion against pooled serum and purified immunoglobulins. In precipitating techniques as immunoelectrophoresis, single and double radial immunodiffusion (Mancini, Ouchterlony) to identify and measure immunoglobulins; as secondary antibody to precipitate the immunoglobulin in normal mouse serum. This antiserum is not intended for use in non-precipitating antibody-binding or other highly sensitive assays. For such uses labelled and unlabelled cytochemical and immunoassay grade reagents meeting the necessary additional specificity and performance requirements are available.
Isotype: Rabbit Polyclonal
Source: Purified polyclonal IgG and pools of homogenous IgA and IgM isolated from mouse serum. Freund's complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.
Form: Delipidated, heat inactivated, in PBS and 0.1% sodium azide.
Reactivity: mouse
Cross Reactivity:
Inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to immunoglobulins, since Ig of different species frequently share antigenic determinants. Cross-reactivity of this antiserum has been tested in double radial immunodiffusion with the following results: Bovine + Duck ᄆ Horse + Rat ++ Cat + Goat + Human + Sheep + Chicken - Guinea Pig ++ Monkey + Swine + Dog + Hamster ++ pigeon ᄆ Turkey ᄆ A negative cross-reaction in double radial immunodiffusion does not exclude some reaction in more sensitive techniques.
Applications: Immunoprecipitation
Storage: Store at 4C, or in small aliquots at -20C.
