Protein Family: Cytokines
Pathway and Disease: Signaling Molecules and Interaction, Signal Transduction, Immune System, Infectious Diseases, Cancers
Description:
Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a cytokine with a wide variety of biological functions. IL-6 is a potent inducer of the acute phase response, and plays an essential role in the final differentiation of B-cells into Ig-secreting cells involved in lymphocyte and monocyte differentiation. IL-6 also induces myeloma and plasmacytoma growth and induces nerve cell differentiation. IL-6 is discharged into the bloodstream after muscle contraction and acts to increase the breakdown of fats and to improve insulin resistance.
Alternate Names: Interleukin-6, IL-6, B-cell stimulatory factor 2, BSF-2, Interferon beta-2, Hybridoma growth factor, CTL differentiation factor, CDF, IL6, IFNB2
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:100-1:500; IHC: 1:100-1:500
Accession No.: P05231
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the N-term region of human IL-6.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4, 0.1 mg/ml BSA, 25% glycerol with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-A affinity chromatography.
