Background:
Integrins are heterodimers composed of noncovalently associated transmembrane å and ∫ subunits. In addition to mediating cell adhesion and cytoskeletal organization, integrins function as signaling receptors. Signals transduced by integrins play a role in many biological processes, including cell growth, differentiation, migration and apoptosis. Integrin å8 is expressed in contractile interstitial cells and smooth muscle cells and is upregulated in lung injury. Integrin å8 is also a marker for smooth muscle cells, expressed as early as alpha smooth muscle actin. The Integrin å8 chain is expressed in the glomerulus exclusively by mesangial cells and may play an important role for maintaining tissue integrity in the glomerulus during glomerular injury.
Alternative Name:
Integrin alpha-8, ITGA8
Application Dilution: WB: 1:500~1:1000
Specificity: ITGA8 polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of ITGA8 protein.
Immunogen:
A synthetic peptide corresponding to residues in Human ITGA8.
MW: ~ 117 kDa
Swis Prot.: P53708
Purification & Purity:
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen and the purity is > 95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Format:
1 mg/ml in Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 15 mM sodium azide, approx. pH 7.2.
Storage:
Store at 4°C short term. Aliquot and store at -20°C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
For research use only, not for use in diagnostic procedure.
