Background:
Voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels represent the mostcomplex class of voltage-gated ion channels from both functionaland structural standpoints. Their diverse functions includeregulating neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smoothmuscle contraction, and cell volume. Four sequence-relatedpotassium channel genes - shaker, shaw, shab, and shal - have beenidentified in Drosophila, and each has been shown to have humanhomolog(s). This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel,voltage-gated, shal-related subfamily, members of which formvoltage-activated A-type potassium ion channels and are prominentin the repolarization phase of the action potential. This membermediates a rapidly inactivating, A-type outward potassium currentwhich is not under the control of the N terminus as it is in Shakerchannels.
Other Names:
Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily D member 2, Voltage-gated potassium channel subunit Kv42, KCND2, KIAA1044
Gene Name: KCND2 (HGNC:6238)
Gene ID: 3751
Primary Accession: Q9NZV8
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
