Background:
Voltage-gated potassium channels form the largest and mostdiversified class of ion channels and are present in both excitableand nonexcitable cells. Their main functions are associated withthe regulation of the resting membrane potential and the control ofthe shape and frequency of action potentials. The alpha subunitsare of 2 types: those that are functional by themselves and thosethat are electrically silent but capable of modulating the activityof specific functional alpha subunits. The protein encoded by thisgene is not functional by itself but can form heteromultimers withmember 1 and with member 2 (and possibly other members) of theShab-related subfamily of potassium voltage-gated channel proteins. This gene belongs to the S subfamily of the potassium channelfamily.
Other Names:
Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily S member 3, Delayed-rectifier K(+) channel alpha subunit 3, Voltage-gated potassium channel subunit Kv93, KCNS3
Gene Name: KCNS3
Gene ID: 3790
Primary Accession: Q9BQ31
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
