Protein Family: Cellular Antigens, Receptors and Channels
Pathway and Disease: Signal Transduction; Signaling Molecules and Interaction; Endocrine System
Alternate Names: Leptin receptor; LEP-R; OB receptor; OB-R; HuB219; CD295 antigen; LEPR; DB; OBR
Accession No.: P48357
Description:
The Leptin receptor (OB receptor, OBR) is the receptor for the obesity factor (leptin). The Leptin Receptor is involved in the regulation of fat metabolism and in lymphopoiesis. The Leptin receptor is closely related to the gp130 signal transducing component common to the IL-6, LIF, CNTF and G-CSF receptors. The Leptin receptor has multiple isoforms (A-E) with isoform B (OBRb) being the long single-pass type I membrane receptor, isoform C (OBRa) carrying a short cytoplasmic domain, and isoform E a shorter secreted form. This blocking peptide is from the long form (isoform B).
Format:
Each vial contains 0.1 mg of lyophilized peptide. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml. Use at 5.6 ug/ml for a 100X excess over antibody for maximum blocking effect.
MW: 2140.2 g/mol
Sequence:
The synthetic peptide used to raise the antibody Cat. No. 250738 is selected from a sequence within the N-term region of human Leptin Receptor (isoform B). For blocking experiments, a 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended.
Composition:
C93H138N22O36
Purity:
> 80% by HPLC
Solubility:
Distilled water for a solution up to 2 mg/ml, otherwise we recommend using acetonitrile.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. The product is hygroscopic and must be protected from light. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C.
